Long-Term Running Goals:

I would like to keep running ultras into my 60s.

Personal:

Details at: http://www.crockettclan.org/ultras/ultracrockett.pdf Married with six kids and six grandchildren.  Started running at the age of 46 in 2004.  My first race since Junior High days was a 50K. I skipped the shorter road stuff and went straight to ultramarathons.  I started as a back-of-the packer, but have progressed to a top-10-percent ultra finisher.  Wish I would have started running at a much earlier age.  Have had several articles published in national running magazines.  Check out my running adventure blog at www.crockettclan.org/blog

Tough treadmill.  Got to love watching people in the rec room.  This week a new guy, the "twitter weight lifter."  They guy is totally adicted.  After each set for a minute or two, his hand to go in in pocket, pull out his phone and I'm sure he was checking twitter.  Happened over, and over, and over again.  What is with this generation!  I work all day with computers, and happily don't want to be that connected so my smart phone isn't smartly used.   Another group is the ADHD workout ladies.  These ladies go from one thing to another and only spend a couple minutes on each machine, never getting their heart rate up.  The weight lifting is with such low weights it hardly does anything I'm sure.  But it is just funny to watch them circle the room doing things and chatting the entire time.

Ran with some Wasatch Wrangers up and over and around Lake Mountain for 50K.  Great fun, nice to meet new people.  It was nice to see so many people running my trails.  Nicely, the leg behaved well.  I think I'm ready to just ignore it and start working hard.  My speed and strength today was frustrating because I'm out of shape and 12 pounds over my race weight.  But I guess I should be happy.  What other old, fat, out of shape can got run 32 miles with a bunch of youngsters?
